Deepa has investigated the pathogenic mechanism of multi-drug resistant infectious diseases for past 7 years. Her doctoral studies focused on understanding the host-pathogen interactions in ocular and lung infections. In 2015, Deepa joined Tufts University School of Medicine as a post-doctoral fellow in Kumar-Singh lab and developed a platform to deliver therapeutic proteins in the eye using mouse models of injury and apoptosis. She received her PhD in Biological and Biomedical Sciences from Oakland University and MSc in Zoology with specialization in Endocrinology and Biotechnology from Mumbai University, India. Outside the lab, Deepa enjoys reading, cooking and spending time with her family.
